Eure Inox first workshop

Last 28th June, our first workshop dedicated to the world of stainless steel was held here in Eure Inox. We are very satisfied with the participation of our Customers and Suppliers, which allowed us to give life to a very interesting morning, also based on discussion and in-depth analyses.

We dedicated an entire building to host events and after these many years of stop due to the pandemic, it’s important to see these spaces in use and full of people again. This first meeting gathered more than 80 people, who listened attentively to the speeches of Professor Carlo Mapelli, lecturer at the Politecnico of Milan.

How the workshop developed

As described in the program, shared with all our partners and also through our communication channels, the workshop took place in the morning. Information and insight are the basis for the concrete growth of every company in the steel world and their importance was demonstrated also by the time dedicated to Q&A.

We were glad to host our customers and suppliers at our company and to organize two more informal moments, a mid-morning break and a lunch, which allowed everyone to more colloquial discussion. In the end our employees took the guests on a guided tour of the area of Eure Inox's furnaces, where Dr Verzì, Quality Manager, explained the processes and activities that we daily carry out in the company.

What we talked about: precipitation hardening stainless steels and AI

Professor Carlo Mapelli divided the morning workshop into two speeches. The main one was on precipitation hardening stainless steels, useful for a wide range of applications, including nuclear, aerospace and oil and gas sectors.

He talked about the properties of steel, the classification of materials (ferritic, austenitic, martensitic, and duplex), then focused on the martensitic transformation of an austenitic structure and the chemical and mechanical characteristics of these materials. Specifically, the workshop pivoted on 17-4 PH (1.4542) steel, which is a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel caused by aging process.

The topic of this stainless steel 17-4PH is strongly linked to processes that here at Eure Inox we can handle excellently thanks to our bar annealing furnace and cooling area, managing a precise control of temperatures and times which is essential in order to obtain a high-quality material.

To conclude the training day, there was a final moment dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, which is becoming increasingly widespread and well-known, but whose functioning and potential are not always properly known, even in the industrial world. An interesting overview and, certainly, food for different thoughts.

Eure Inox's upcoming workshops

This first meeting was born as an opportunity to (re)start our training and information activities, which we particularly care about. We are convinced that meeting with others in the industry, also with experts in the field such as Professor Carlo Mapelli is really important for everyone. We can only confirm this intention, announcing that we will have soon news for everyone interested in our activities. During the workshop, we asked those present to share which topics they would have liked or needed to be explored next. We believe our workshops may be a useful time for everyone, giving answers to the concrete needs of the sector. We don’t have a date yet, but we would like to thank everyone who took part in the event and let’s "see you all after the summer."
